Astrocast becomes the first Swiss company listed on Euronext Growth Oslo

25.08.2021 Rita Longobardi

Swiss satellite communications company Astrocast reached an important milestone with its public listing on Euronext Growth Oslo in 2021. The company, founded in 2014 by EPFL alumni, develops a global nanosatellite network designed for IoT connectivity in remote areas beyond traditional cellular coverage. The listing provided Astrocast with additional capital to expand its satellite constellation and accelerate commercial deployment.

Astrocast entered the public markets through a direct listing on Euronext Growth Oslo, becoming the first Swiss company to join the exchange. The move reflected growing investor interest in space technology and satellite-based IoT solutions. The company focuses on enabling low-cost, bidirectional communication for industries such as maritime, agriculture, logistics, and environmental monitoring.

The Lausanne-based company built its business around a constellation of nanosatellites operating in low Earth orbit. By connecting assets located outside conventional network coverage, Astrocast addresses a growing market for remote monitoring and data transmission. Partnerships with organizations, including Airbus and the European Space Agency, also contributed to the company’s visibility ahead of the listing.

Astrocast was also recognized within the Swiss startup ecosystem before its IPO. The company ranked among the Top100 Swiss Startups and participated in the Venture Leaders program, which supports promising Swiss startups through international roadshows and investor exposure.

The IPO highlighted the progress of Switzerland’s New Space sector and showed that local space-tech startups can access international capital markets to finance satellite infrastructure and commercial expansion.
