CHF 9.7 million for Albatross to reinvent product discovery for the web

19.11.2025 09:19, Rita Longobardi

Albatross has secured CHF 9.7 million to advance its approach to real-time product and content discovery. The Zurich-based company aims to move beyond static recommendation systems by deploying AI that interprets user intent as it emerges.

Most online systems still rely on fixed profiles and historical data, leaving them unable to adjust to what users want in the moment. Albatross, founded by former Amazon AI leaders, is developing a platform that learns directly from live behaviour and adapts continuously as users browse.

The company has raised EUR 10.5 million in new funding, bringing its total to CHF 12.5 million. Headquartered in Baar (Zug) with an office in Zurich, Albatross employs a team of 14. Its platform already handles billions of live events and tens of millions of predictions each month across marketplaces, retail, and travel. It processes around a hundred million products and serves tens of millions of end users. Early pilots have shown triple-digit uplifts in engagement, with integration completed in under seven weeks.

Founded in 2024 by Dr Kevin Kahn and Dr Matteo Ruffini and ranked in the Top100 Swiss Startups, together with serial entrepreneur Johan Boissard, the company focuses on what it views as a gap in current AI development. While many efforts concentrate on generating content, Albatross is building systems that interpret how users perceive and interact with information in real time. The platform is based on transformer architecture and sequential embedding models trained on live events.

Albatross offers two core products: the Real-Time Discovery Feed and Multimodal Search. The Discovery Feed updates product and content suggestions as intent shifts, while Multimodal Search refines results using context and image input, supporting both online and in-store journeys. The platform delivers this at enterprise scale and near-zero latency, bringing capabilities once limited to major global platforms to a broader range of companies.
