CareerFairy secures major investment from Mediahuis Marketplaces to boost global expansion and innovation

25.09.2023 Rita Longobardi

CareerFairy, the ETH spin-off renowned for its interactive live-streaming platform connecting companies with students, has successfully closed its latest investment round. This milestone has been made possible with the strategic backing of Mediahuis Marketplaces, a prominent European media conglomerate. The fresh capital is poised to drive CareerFairy towards its ambitious goals of global expansion and the introduction of innovative features to further enhance its unique platform.

CareerFairy facilitates students in navigating the intricacies of the job market while connecting them with companies that align seamlessly with their education, interests, and lifestyles. The startup orchestrates virtual career events, where companies offer a firsthand glimpse into their daily operations, showcase their latest projects, and unveil their distinctive workplace cultures. Beyond fortifying companies' employer branding and establishing early connections with students, CareerFairy streamlines the application process, making it effortless for companies to tap into the otherwise elusive pool of recent graduates.

Established in 2019, the startup has burgeoned to encompass a workforce of 25 across Zurich, Berlin, Utrecht, and Lisbon. It has garnered the patronage of 200 paying clients, including esteemed entities like KPMG, Beiersdorf, L’Oréal, and BMW. To meet the escalating demand and cater to the international sourcing needs of both students and companies, CareerFairy's co-founders, Thomas Schulz and Maximilian Voss, are charting a course for expansion into other DACH and Benelux regions.

The newly secured funds from their latest financing round will underpin the realization of these aspirations. In addition to Mediahuis, this round also saw continued support from existing investors Swiss Post Ventures and Backbone Ventures, alongside contributions from business angels associated with SICTIC, Start Angels, and Business Angels Switzerland.

“With Mediahuis, we’re excited to have found a long-term partner that shares our mission of guiding generations of future talent towards fulfilling career opportunities. Mediahuis’ strong footprint and experience in the recruitment market will be a valuable asset as we continue to scale our international presence,” said Thomas Schulz, CEO and co-founder of CareerFairy.

CareerFairy was ranked among the TOP 100 Swiss Startups in 2022 and 2023.
