EUR 14M to make the fastest-to-produce battery in the world a reality

19.09.2025 15:56, Rita Longobardi

Unbound Potential is setting a new standard in energy storage with its innovative battery technology. The Swiss cleantech company has successfully closed a pre-seed financing round of EUR 14.4M, which will accelerate the development of its membrane-free redox flow battery and advance its first pilot projects. Recognized among the Top100 Swiss Startups, Unbound Potential is positioning itself as a key player in the future of scalable, cost-effective stationary energy storage.

Unbound Potential’s redox flow battery stores energy in two liquid electrolytes, eliminating the need for membranes. This reduces manufacturing complexity, lowers costs, and enables rapid scaling of stationary storage systems with minimal maintenance.

The pre-seed round, comprising around EUR 8M in non-dilutive grants and EUR 6.4M in additional funding, highlights the strategic relevance of Unbound Potential’s technology for Europe’s energy transition.

The company will demonstrate its system in pilot projects, including a collaboration with Amazon on logistics electrification and discussions with FlexBase for Europe’s largest redox flow storage project at the “Star of Laufenburg.” A pilot plant is scheduled to begin operations in mid-2026. By combining fast production, cost efficiency, and scalability, Unbound Potential is bringing a new generation of energy storage closer to reality.

The Cleantech company has been ranked among the Top100 Swiss Startups.
