Embotech secures CHF 23.5M to advance autonomous logistics

12.12.2024 17:35, Rita Longobardi

Embotech, a Zurich-based leader in autonomous logistics, has secured CHF 23.5 million in Series B funding to further advance its autonomous vehicle systems for factory and port operations.

Embotech, specializing in embedded optimization technologies, has secured multi-year contracts for its AVM solution in vehicle logistics and ATT solution for port logistics.

For AVM, Embotech has partnered with BMW to implement its solution in six car factories worldwide by the end of 2025. The system, operational in BMW’s Dingolfing and Leipzig plants, will handle thousands of vehicles per day starting in 2025. The AVM solution uses off-the-shelf LiDAR sensors and requires no vehicle modifications, with the ability to adapt to various production layouts. BMW expects millions of kilometers driven with this system.

For ATT, Embotech will deploy 30 autonomous electric tractors in Rotterdam’s port over the next two years. The tractors, equipped with Embotech’s Level 4 AV Kit, use LiDAR, cameras, and GPS to navigate complex port environments safely and accurately.

Embotech’s technology delivers significant operational efficiencies, reducing TCO and CO2 emissions, addressing the global driver shortage, and improving logistics safety.

The ICT company was ranked among the TOP 100 Swiss Startups in 2018 and participated in Venture Leaders in 2016.
