The $8 billion market for diagnosing and monitoring eye diseases is just the tip of the iceberg for RetinAI, founder Carlos Ciller says. Today's pre-series A investment unlocks international growth now, and his startup's expertise in artificial intelligence for eye health promises early diagnosis of brain and heart conditions in the future.

What is RetinaAI's mission and main innovation?
We are leading the transition to patient-specific, precision medicine for the most common eye and brain diseases. RetinAI is the first company offering software and tools for healthcare professionals to collect, organize and analyse health-data from patients' eyes.

What perspectives will this investment by btov partners and investiere open for the company?
It'll bring RetinAI closer to market leadership in AI in ophthalmology, a multi-billion market, and accelerate our expansion. We're going to hire the staff and gain the certifications neccessary to grow internationally. The $8 billion market for diagnosing and monitoring eye diseases is just the tip of the iceberg. Beyond that, our software's unique technical and clinical expertise could bring RetinAI into the early detection of degenerative brain conditions such as Alzheimer's, and monitoring the risk of heart attacks.

How do you see your next steps to your development?
The past months have been thrilling! We signed contracts with several pharmaceutical and medical device companies, resulting in the first recurring revenues for RetinAI. We're en-route for European certification of our first clinical product, a software as a medical device. We're going to bring more products to the market in the near future, and move in the U.S. and Asia.
