Immitra Bio raises CHF 2.4 million to advance in-vivo gene editing platform

Geneva-based Immitra Bio has secured an upsized CHF 2.4 million pre-seed financing round to accelerate the development of its scalable in-vivo gene editing platform and lead therapeutic candidate, IB-003, a potential one-time curative treatment for an inherited anemia.

The biotech startup Immitra Bio, a Venture Kick and Venture Leaders alumnus, has secured CHF 2.4 million in pre-seed funding to advance its scalable in-vivo gene editing technology and lead candidate, IB-003. The round includes CHF 2.25 million from venture capital firms and private investors, complemented by CHF 150,000 in non-dilutive funding. Backbone Ventures led the financing and was co-led by OCCIDENT, with participation from Another VC, Kickfund, Venture Kick, Zürcher Kantonalbank, FONGIT, ETH Foundation, and private investors.

The proceeds will fund preclinical proof-of-concept studies for IB-003, while also supporting the expansion of Immitra Bio's pipeline through its digital target discovery platform and further refinement of its proprietary technology.

Founded in Geneva, Immitra Bio is developing scalable, mutation-agnostic in-vivo gene editing therapies designed to overcome key limitations of current approaches. By eliminating the need for complex ex vivo cell manipulation, patient conditioning, stem cell transplantation, and personalized manufacturing, the company aims to deliver off-the-shelf treatments for all patients with a given genetic disease, thereby improving scalability, accessibility, and commercial viability.
