Geneva-based 3D graphics maker Imverse has raised CHF 1.5 million to double its team and open an office in Los Angeles, the heart of the global film industry.
The EPFL spin-off develops solutions for Virtual and Mixed Reality content creation and entertainment. The Imverse engine can transform a single 360°/2D image into a fully editable 3D environment in an easy and fast process. Additionally, the engine provides a solution for live capture and real-time playback of human holograms. This reduces time and money spent on 3D workflows of volumetric VR experiences, location-based entertainment and film productions.
In this financing round Imverse won support from several Swiss business angel clubs, a Swiss venture capital firm, private investors and a syndicate of experienced business insiders from the US. The startup will use the funds to expand its engineering, sales and business development team and create VR content for marketing purposes. Further, Imverse will open an office in Los Angeles to be closer to its Hollywood customers, partners and investors.
The 3D-graphics maker was part of the Venture Leaders Technology team that visited Silicon Valley earlier this year. Javier Bello Ruiz, CEO and co-founder of Imverse, said:
“Participating in Venturelab workshops and being selected for the Venture Leaders Swiss National Startup Team in San Francisco put us in the right mindset to focus, find the right market, and be prepared for our fundraising. We got the tools and the learnings necessary to move forward with our company.”
