Lakera acquired by Checkpoint in USD 300 million deal

17.09.2025 09:05, Rita Longobardi

Swiss startup Lakera, creator of the AI security platform Gandalf, has been acquired by Checkpoint for an estimated USD 300 million. In just over a year, Lakera has become a reference in protecting enterprises from emerging risks in generative AI, making this transaction one of the largest to date in the field.

Founded by David Haber, Mateo Rojas-Carulla, and Matthias Kraft, Lakera built its reputation by addressing vulnerabilities specific to generative AI, including jailbreaks, prompt injection, and data leakage. Its platform Gandalf generated more than 80 million data points and offered real-time protection across large language models through a single API.

The acquisition shows how pressing the challenge of securing generative AI has become and puts Lakera’s technology at the heart of Checkpoint’s strategy. It also highlights Switzerland’s ability to build AI companies with global reach in a short time.

The security company has been ranked among the Top100 Swiss Startups.
