Venturelab's industry partner Helbling Technik, known for its expertise in product innovation and engineering development, organized the Helbling Venture Challenge to spotlight the most promising hardware and hardware-enabled software ventures. Helbling's global presence and technical prowess provide startups with a springboard for success, making this competition a key opportunity in the tech ecosystem.
The first edition of the
Helbling Venture Challenge wrapped up on September 13th with a thrilling final day that highlighted the talent in the Swiss Medtech scene. Launched in March, the challenge culminated in an intense Roadmap Challenge, where five promising startups—
Resmonics,
Earlysight,
Rhovica,
Lighthousetech, and the German-based
inContAlert—pitched their innovative solutions to an expert jury.
In the morning, the startups presented themselves in a private session at Helbling’s Zurich headquarters, showcasing their advanced technologies and business strategies. The afternoon session at the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel brought their pitches to a broader audience, further emphasizing the quality and innovation of Swiss Medtech.
In a panel discussion, Jannis Fischer, Co-Founder and CEO of
Positrigo, shared insights on startup growing pains and how to overcome them, emphasizing that working with Helbling was key to moving the product development forward.
The day’s standout was Rhovica Neuroimaging which seized the top position with its forward-looking approach. Rhovica will walk away with more than just recognition; it will receive a consulting package worth CHF 25,000 from Helbling Technik, offering essential guidance in product development. With the possibility of working out of one of Helbling’s international offices in Switzerland, Boston, San Diego, or Munich, Rhovica stands to gain from both local and global expertise.
"Helbling, in partnership with Venturelab, has launched an international accelerator for startups, concentrating its inaugural year on Medtech, Diagnostics, Lab Systems, and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing," stated Nicolas Schärer, Helbling's business unit manager.
"With Helbling’s over 60 years of experience in driving innovation, Venturelab’s initiative perfectly complements our vision to elevate the startup ecosystem and foster transformative tech solutions. This powerful alliance equips startups to navigate challenges and seize global opportunities, turning bold ideas into impactful solutions efficiently and effectively."
As we anticipate the 2025 Helbling Venture Challenge, the inaugural event has set a high standard, promising even more disruptive innovations and talent to look forward to.
