Scientrepreneurs from Brazil and India visit Switzerland

23.03.2018 10:05, Charlotte Pichon

The second part of the Academia Industry Training 2017-2018 program is about to start. From laboratory to market, the AIT camps help research scientists become entrepreneurs. Mid-April, the Swiss teams, who visited Brazil and India in 2017, will be joined by the Brazilian and Indian teams to participate in the Swiss camps. They will all gather in Switzerland to assess the advancement of their projects and pitch for a grant. Meet the teams at various events in Lausanne and in Zurich.

In November 2017, two Swiss teams, each composed of 10 high-level researchers from top Swiss universities, traveled to India and Brazil respectively. The objective: benefit from a full week immersion in the local market to stress test their research projects and connect with other researchers.

This year, from April 23rd to April 27th, eight fellow “scientrepreneurs” from Brazil and 10 from India are joining their Swiss counterparts to discover Swiss market opportunities. For a week, the 38 participants will attend business development workshops and get a glimpse of the Swiss ecosystem with visits to industry and key institutions as well as networking events. The camp will wrap up with a final pitch session to determine which project will be rewarded with a special grant. Two projects from each country will be chosen.

About the Academia Industry Training Camps (AIT)
The Academia Industry Training Camps aim to support scientists in transforming their high-level research into market application, while discovering their entrepreneurial potential. It seeks to give these “scientrepreneurs” the boost they need to successfully transform their ideas into marketable products. By connecting scientists from top-notch academic institutions in Switzerland, in Brazil and in India, the program promotes international collaboration and gives access promising markets and intellectual capitals in applied research.  This is an initiative from the Leading House ZHAW, University of St. Gallen in collaboration with swissnex Brazil, swissnex India and Venturelab.
