TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award Anniversary Edition Kicks off With the Beginning of its Jury Voting

23.04.2020 18:01, Isabelle Mitchell

The award season for the TOP 100 Swiss startups has begun: The 100 handpicked jury members have started to vote for the most promising 100 Swiss startups, a selected jury of growth experts will select the best 25 scale-ups, and the public voting will open in May. This year’s TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award is a special one: 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the ranking—a milestone for the event that has become a benchmark for the Swiss startup scene.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, the startups will be honored: “TOP 100 is even more important in this period of crisis and uncertainty: It is essential to celebrate visionary entrepreneurs and their achievements—particularly during hard times. The 2020 edition, which will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the TOP 100 ranking, will therefore probably be one of historical remembrance,“ said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner of Venturelab. “We are preparing with all our partners and are dedicated to making this edition a major ‘post-pandemic’ happening.”

A ranking that connects and opens doors
The TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award brings together the most promising Swiss startup CEOs, investors, journalists, and corporate executives to gain deep insights into the latest proven concepts, network, and establish new business relationships. Flyability, the TOP 100 Swiss Startup in 2019, has been included in the TOP 100 Swiss startups for the last five consecutive years and knows how important the ranking is: “Our position in the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award in the last years helped us build credibility with prospective investors and customers,” said Adrien Briod, Flyability co-founder and CTO.

TOP 25 Scale-up ranking
As part of the TOP 100 awards show, the experts also choose the most promising Swiss scale-up startups as part of the TOP 25 Scale-up ranking. For the second year, the TOP 100 experts identify the companies, aged 5 to 10 years, that show the greatest potential for further growth.

TOP 100 public voting
Finally, the broader audience will also get its chance to choose the best startup of Switzerland that incorporated on or after January 1, 2015. The public voting will start in May.

All results will be announced at the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award ceremony on September 9, 2020, in Zurich.

About the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award
Each year since 2011, Venturelab has been organizing the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award. The 100 most innovative and promising Swiss startups are picked by a panel of 100 leading investors and startup experts. Each one nominates their 10 favorite Swiss startups that are less than five years old and show the greatest commercial potential. Each expert then chooses 10 startups, with the first place receiving 10 points and 10th place receiving one point. All the individual rankings are compiled to generate the final TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award ranking, which recognizes the startups that have impressed all 100 jury members the most.
