The Venture Leaders Mobile 2022 get ready for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
In a month, the Venture Leaders Mobile 2022 will show off Swiss innovation at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. To prepare for their international roadshow, the 10 selected entrepreneurs kicked off their Venture Leaders experience in a fitting (and safe) way: digitally. In a one-day workshop, the entrepreneurs got to know each other and learned about the ins and outs of the MWC, meeting international investors, and setting sail for success. Huawei, Swisscom, and VISCHER support this year’s Venture Leaders Mobile program.
The Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest and most important event for the mobile industry—an ideal platform to accelerate the Venture Leaders’ global growth and connect them with industry leaders. Setting up their booths at the four-day event will help the Swiss startups facilitate meetings with potential customers, investors, and experts.“Connectivity has become a critical element of our lives, but the industry continues to transform—and Swiss startups play a critical role in accelerating high-quality innovation,” said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner at Venturelab. “The 10 new members of the National Startup Team showcase, for the fourth time, Switzerland’s innovative power in Barcelona. We are excited to provide them with a platform to present their unique technologies and strengthen their global business footprint,” he continued.
“Getting to know the other nine members of the Swiss National Startup representing Switzerland at the Mobile World Conference 2022 was very exciting. I was amazed by the level of innovation and maturity of the different startups and impressed by the values that drive the founders. The Venture Leaders Mobile roadshow in Barcelona will certainly support our endeavor for growth and international expansion,” said Michelle Heppler, Pathmate CCO. Fellow Venture Leader Mobile Mahmoud Hadad, the CEO of INERGIO, added: “We are very happy and proud to be among the Venture Leaders in Barcelona to represent the startup ecosystem in Switzerland. We have already heard tons of positive feedback from our fellow ’startupers,’ who have joined the program before. We are looking forward to meeting the pioneers of the mobile industry, having access to an additional network, and the support that the Venture Leaders program will provide. And last but not least, to enjoy the friendly company of like-minded entrepreneurs.”
A busy week in Barcelona
During the Mobile World Congress, the Swiss National Startup Team will set up their booths at the 4YFN startup conference. Networking with investors, industry leaders, and potential clients at several key events, attending the main congress, and participating in exclusive pitch events will allow the entrepreneurs to advance their global growth. The second international pitchfest, where the Swiss startups pitch against a Spanish startup delegation, will add some friendly competition.
The roadshow will also include the third Venturelab Trophy, a friendly regatta for the Swiss National Startup Team and selected investors—supported by VISCHER. Back on land, the Venture Leaders will pitch their startups and connect with investors at Barcelona’s Royal Club Nautico.
A motivating digital workshop
The one-day workshop allowed the entrepreneurs to get to know each other, learn about the do’s and don’ts of pitching to international investors, and become familiar with the roadshow itinerary. The experts from VISCHER shared their insights on growth finance and internationalization, while a live-streamed pitch provided the Venture Leaders Mobile with a first opportunity to showcase the innovative potential of the Swiss National Startup Team. The audience then had to do some work as well and select the Venture Leaders Mobile Team Captain: LORIOT CEO Julian Studer. “I happily and proudly accept the nomination of being the captain, the voice of the Swiss National team. It’s an honor! Being nominated as the captain means to be the team’s voice: We are a team, we play as a team, and we decide as a team. I will be happy to be the voice of this year’s team,” said Julian.
One lucky audience member then won a ticket to the Mobile World Congress and will join the Venture Leaders Mobile 2022 “in action” in Barcelona.
