Swiss cybersecurity startup Tune Insight has emerged victorious in the highly competitive Eurostars program, clinching a EUR 1.8 million grant. The awarded funding will push Tune Insight's innovative initiative, focused on implementing privacy-preserving machine learning solutions for Electronic Health Records (EHR) within pediatric emergency care settings across hospitals in Italy and Switzerland.
Tune Insight, in collaboration with Italian and Swiss hospitals belonging to the Pediatric Emergency Research Network (PERN) — such as Insel Gruppe Spital in Bern and University Hospital of Padova, along with the Italian SME DataRiver — has been granted a 1.8 million euro Eurostars project. This project aims to establish a secure connection among emergency pediatric departments, ultimately enhancing the health outcomes for acutely ill and injured children on a global scale.
The project aims to address the challenge of lacking international collaborative data pipelines in pediatric emergency medicine. Tune Insight and partners will develop a privacy-preserving federated learning platform for patient-centered research. The platform, using advanced interoperability and privacy technologies, will serve as a blueprint for collaborative clinical research. After deploying in initial partner hospitals, the goal is to expand the solution to the global Pediatric Emergency Research Network, comprising over 100 hospitals and accessing data from 2 million pediatric emergency presentations yearly.
“We are very excited to collaborate with Tune Insight on this project. Their outstanding work with Swiss hospitals showed that their secure software solution opens a new era for secure data collaborations in healthcare," said Dr. Silvia Bressan from PERN.
"
We are looking forward to applying it to pediatric emergency care across hospitals in different jurisdictions, to advance quality of care for children through advanced analytics and machine learning”.
Tune Insight participated in
Venture Leaders Technology in 2023, was ranked among the
TOP 100 Swiss Startups in 2022 and 2023, and won the second stage of
Venture Kick in 2021.
"Building Tune Insight from the ground up required time and commitment. Venture Kick's crucial support in recognition, visibility, advisory, and funding during our early stages was pivotal for our B2B software startup," commented Juan Ramon Troncoso-Pastoriza, Co-founder and CEO of Tune Insight. "Thanks to Venture Leaders, we achieved rapid progress, securing top rankings in the Swiss Startup Award. The Venture Leaders Silicon Valley trip, part of our seed fundraising, significantly enhanced our engagement with US investors and aligned our strategy with key trends in California, including generative AI," continued Juan Ramon.
