19.09.2023 13:20, Rita Longobardi

In a bid to guide budding entrepreneurs, the USI Startup Centre in Lugano recently hosted an inspiring session with Priyanka Dutta-Passecker, the CEO & founder of Healiva. The event, which took place on Wednesday, September 13th, offered hints on the world of entrepreneurship, drawing in startup-minded students, scientists, and graduates from the canton of Ticino.

Healiva, based in Lugano, is a patient-centric Swiss Biotech company, that delivers personalised therapy to improve patients’ quality of life. The company uses a multi-pronged approach to address patient needs by combining cell therapies, enzyme technology and medical devices to deliver tailored solutions for chronic wounds - with the potential to help 156 million patients worldwide, especially those with diabetes. Healiva is the first Biotech to offer multiple end-to-end, intuitive wound care products that can be personalised whilst remaining affordable. Healiva was a winner of the Venture Leaders Biotech 2022, representing the Swiss National Startup Team in Boston, USA.

Priyanka's path from scientist to entrepreneur spanned many countries, including India, USA, Austria, and Switzerland. The insights gained during the Venture Briefing from Priyanka's entrepreneurial journey and the endeavours of Healiva served as an inspiration to those aspiring to create a positive impact through innovation.

"Technical know-how, purpose, passion, persistence. In my opinion, this is what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur."

During the event, Priyanka shared her journey of building a successful startup. Her experience shed light on critical aspects of entrepreneurship, including idea validation, strategies, and resources to bring a business idea to life. The event also provided a chance to network with like-minded individuals who share a passion for entrepreneurship.
