China has seen its economy grow at a fast pace and with a keen focus on innovation, making it an ideal locale for high-tech startups to stress test their cutting-edge technologies while seeking international expansion. In September, 10 high-tech Swiss startups will have the opportunity to discover the Chinese market and expose their innovations. Among them is Zhenzhong Su, CEO and co-founder of Fixposition, a startup developing reliable and highly accurate navigation for autonomous vehicles.
Who are you and what is Fixpostion?
We are
Fixposition, providing superior reliable high-accuracy navigation at affordable prices for autonomous vehicles.
What attracted you to China as a business development destination?
Fixposition is targeting commercial drones as the market entry point. The largest drone manufactures, such as DJI and Yuneec, are all from China. The country has the largest market potential and overall market size for Fixposition. We are also setting up our hardware manufacturing, and China is still the first choice for production. There are also very active venture capitalists in the country.
What do you hope to achieve from the trip? What are your expectations?
We hope to meet existing customers and attract more customers, attract the attention of venture capitalists for our next fundraising rounds and explore the capability of local manufacturers.
Why is Venture Leaders China beneficial for your startup?
The program brings more publicity and credibility to Fixposition. Our core team can use this trip to explore and better understand the Chinese market.
What is pushing you towards international expansion?
Switzerland is one of the best countries for innovation and R&D, but the market is rather small and the competition for talent is very high. Fixposition must go international to scale up the business and acquire more customers, hire more talent and achieve competitive manufacturing costs.
What do you foresee as the largest hurdles towards expansion into the Chinese market?
In my opinion, it will be challenging and time-consuming for Fixposition to learn how to co-ordinate its future Chinese branches with Swiss headquarters.
What makes you most nervous or excited about the trip?
I am most excited but at the same time nervous about the connections we will form through this trip.
