In two weeks, Guillaume Petit-Pierre, Artiria Medical co-founder, will travel to Boston with Venture Leaders Life Sciences to meet key biotech and medtech entrepreneurs and investors. Here we find out a little about his motivation for applying to the program.
Who are your and what does Artiria Medical do?
We develop disruptive medical technologies which enable navigation in brain arteries three times faster than any other available solution, thus allowing rapid Stroke treatment. I have a PhD in neuroengineering (EPFL) and I worked in the Medtech industry for three years prior to launching Artiria Medical.
Why did you choose Boston as your business development destination?
First of all, because Boston is one of the most renowned place in the world for medical technologies and life-sciences innovations. Second, because the US represents one of our biggest markets in term of potential revenues.
What do you hope to achieve from the trip?
The first objective is to maximize the number of contacts made with future potential investors. Another objective is to refine our regulatory strategy to penetrate the US market by meeting specialists of the local regulations (i.e. FDA).
Why is the Venture Leaders Life Sciences experience beneficial for your company?
One of the main benefit will be to receive continuous feedback from life-sciences experts (including local investors). Using this feedback to further improve our strategy is decisive and well aligned with our vision of success.
What is pushing you towards international expansion?
Well, we think big! Selling in Europe only doesn’t make much sense as this is only a small fraction of our total addressable market.
What do you foresee as the largest hurdles towards expansion into the Boston area?
I’m an optimist, I do not see hurdles but rather opportunities!
What makes you most nervous or excited about the trip?
I’m really looking forward to feeling the famous entrepreneurship spirit of the Boston area!
