Wingtra AG, whose vertical take-off and landing drones are sold in 40 countries, received investment from Credit Suisse Entrepreneur Capital, Investiere and Zuercher Kantonalbank. Co-founder and CFO Elias Kleimann tells us what's next for the Swiss dronemaker.
What is Wingtra's mission and core innovation?
We make it possible for our customers to make better decisions based on aerial data. With the WingtraOne it is safer, easier and much faster for professional surveyors, mining operators, farmers and environmental researchers to get the most exact data. WingtraOne is the world's leading vertical take-off and landing drones. Its revolutionary design helps professionals around the world finish projects up to 80 percent faster and more accurately than ever before.
How will this $10-million-round help achieve your vision?
It will help us to scale up our operations globally. We will strengthen our presence in the U.S., Asia and the rest of the world. We will also invest further in our development team to add additional features and remain the most reliable and easy-to-use drone in the professional market.
It was a great opportunity to challenge and develop our strategy. We could learn through talks with potential investors, as well as from the other entrepreneurs who were part of the program. We received a high density of very good feedback, which helped to develop our strategy to the next level.
You've also ranked at the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award the past three years. How did that ranking and event that help?
The Top 100 Swiss Startup award is very respected by investors, who are searching for promising startups, and by potential employees, who want to join a fast-growing company. Both are very relevant for us. And yes, I believe this award was also an element that was considered by Credit Suisse.
