Workforce Communications Leader Beekeeper Seeks Local Partners for China

03.06.2019 09:00, Joseph Heaven

Beekeeper co-founder and Chief Customer Officer, Daniel Sztutwojner, outlines the Swiss SaaS startup's plans to enter China's $1.8 billion market for mobile employee communications.

What is Beekeeper's mission?

Beekeeper wants to transform the way two billion frontline employees work. We're the leading, mobile-first communication platform for desk and non-desk workforces, and one of the world's fastest-growing SaaS companies. Working from 5 offices in the U.S. and Europe, our team of 130 employees helps more than 450 blue-chip customers unlocking the potential of their staff across more than 160 countries.

What is the potential of the Chinese market for Beekeeper?

The market for workforce communication in China is about $1.8 billion. Many of our existing customers around the world are owned by Chinese parent companies, so we know international companies demand a mobile solution like Beekeeper to digitize their entire workforce. We expect local players, Asian competitors and perhaps more of our EMEA and U.S.-competitors to enter this market soon. Beekeeper thrives on competition, which drives and fosters innovation, and we know that as long as we keep doing what we've already done in other markets, we can gain traction, accelerate and scale in China.

What do you hope to achieve from the trip? What are your goals?

I want to meet investors to finance our growth as we scale in China. Market entry as a foreign SaaS company won't be a walk in the park, which is why we're seeking strong, local technology partners to guide us through the giant tech market in China. Venture Leaders' wide, established network will help us meet leaders from China's tech-community, and learn about the country's business ecosystem and how peers successfully brought their companies into China.
