Optical Additives plans to further accelerate the resounding success of solar cells. The company has an additive that is mixed into plastics and acts as a light harvester. With it, the size of solar cells for a given power level can be dramatically reduced while also increasing design options. The company is currently demonstrating a computer mouse whose semitransparent case contains this additive, allowing the device to run from solar power.
