The 8th Swiss Prime Site Startup Accelerator workshop rewarded winning pitches from the founders of Data Ahead Analytics, Enoki, FenX and Nomoko with the opportunity for their startups to develop a business case for Switzerland's biggest listed real-estate company.
70 startups applied for the Swiss Prime Site Startup Accelerator workshop focusing on the topics of smart cities, smart buildings and mobility. Eight innovative startups pitched to the Swiss Prime Site jury, which shortlisted four projects to work with their real-estate experts on a business case.
"Once again the Swiss Prime Site Startup Accelerator Workshop on smart buildings, smart cities and mobility showed what exciting use-cases can be developed in just two days, when the dynamism and technology of the best startups are combined with Swiss Prime Site real-estate experts' industry knowledge," said Bastian Zarske Bueno, head of Corporate Ventures at Swiss Prime Site.
DATA AHEAD ANALYTICS works on data integration, modelling and visualization software for energy efficiency. "The workshop was very useful: we examined our solution using the JED real-estate project that will be completed in the next few years as a basis. The mentors' feedback was of really high quality," said Wolfram Willuhn of Data Ahead Analytics.
The Fribourg-based Enoki aims to help make cities more sustainable, circular and pleasant, by affecting change on the neighborhood level with its own NeighborHub. "It was very helpful to work on a concrete business case and be coached by experts," said Enoki co-founder Axelle Marchon. "The feedback helped us detect the strengths and weaknesses of our proposition."
FenX, the spinoff from the ETH Zurich transforms mineral waste into insulation. FenX's bricks and plates offer porosity levels up to 98 % and unique mechanical stability. For the first time, insulation foams are 3D-printable, opening new perspectives in the construction industry. "In two days we worked through a lot, using a real case and actual market conditions," said FenX co-founder and CEO Etienne Jeoffroy, "I benefited a lot from my mentor's experience and his coaching."
Smart cities, autonomous services, augmented & virtual reality, and the Internet of Things all need a reference dataset to act as the mirror between the physical and the digital worlds. Nomoko is building this key, enabling technology. Its mirrorworld will be the common grid integrating all the smart services of the future, making the human world understandable for machines and algorithms."The two days were very interesting. We saw where our company's innovation stands and really appreciated talking to all the important players," said Nomoko co-founder Vincent Pedrini.
