Swiss Prime Site has a huge appetite for innovation. That’s why the country’s leading listed real estate company is one of our Premium Partners and a Presenting Partner at the TOP 100. What’s in it for them?
For one thing, at the Swiss Prime Site Acceleration Workshops (it’s already time to
apply for the next one!), they have the chance to find new ideas that can make a big difference to their business. Bastian Zarske Bueno, Corporate Ventures Partner Manager, explains.
What motivates Swiss Prime Site to work so closely with Venturelab? How does our ecosystem benefit you?
Thanks to Venturelab, we have efficient access to new technologies and can position ourselves as a growth and innovation partner for startups. The ecosystem also enables us to establish value-added networks that can quickly develop, test and implement new business models.
What are the most exciting ideas you’ve seen come out of the Acceleration Workshops?
Individual success stories are of course always great, and we have undoubtedly had a few. But even more important for us is the stimulus that such workshops provide for Swiss Prime Site and its employees. They help us to critically question our current activities and regularly think about tomorrow's business models.
The last workshop was on the Internet of Things and big data – what opportunities does Swiss Prime Site see in those areas?
IoT plays an important role for us when it comes to exploiting new opportunities in smart buildings and offering new services. Big Data & Analytics, on the other hand, allows us to create value through the data that our smart building systems collect on a daily basis. We see a lot of untapped potential in the latter.
And the next one will be on fintech, legaltech and enterprisetech. What are you hoping to discover? What business problems do you want to solve?
We hope to learn about new approaches that will help us to increase our operational efficiency, expand our range of services and/or develop new business models that will change our core business (real estate) and those of our group companies (real estate services, retail, assisted living) in the long term.
What’s your key takeaway, after four workshops?
Success in the field of innovation (particularly in a corporate setting) can only be achieved with the appropriate perseverance and determination as well as with the involvement of all parties involved.
Your own career has been in the corporate world, but you work closely with entrepreneurs. Have they influenced your own working style in any way?
Of course. Working together with entrepreneurs always offers us a new perspective on challenges, shows us alternative approaches to solving problems and stimulates our creativity. And as with all things in life, one naturally tries to apply the strengths and best practices to one's own actions.
