IDUN Technologies raises seed investment from Sony

04.06.2020 07:30, Gianmaria Sbetta

The Swiss ETH spin-off, IDUN Technologies, develops and manufactures comfortable sensors providing unparalleled signal quality for wearable devices. After participating in the Sony Startup Acceleration Program Europe, IDUN Technologies now adds Sony as one of its investors

IDUN Technologies is addressing the huge potential in the wearable device market and developed the Dryode™, the first product in a development pipeline working towards continuous body monitoring for sports diagnostics, well-being and brain-computer interfaces. Currently, there is no scalable solution for complex applications, such as in-ear or through-hair brain monitoring that is accurate, as well as comfortable and unobtrusive. Complex 3D structures and a challenging skin-electrode interface also pose profound technical challenges for biosensing. But IDUN Technologies has found a solution.

IDUN Technologies participated in the Sony Startup Acceleration Program Europe, which now has resulted in investment from Sony. This allows IDUN Technologies to further explore how its technology can be used in future products.

We are proud to welcome Sony as one of our investors and can’t wait to scale our innovation,” said Simon Bachmann, CEO of IDUN Technologies.

Since 2018, IDUN Technologies has been supported by Venturelab and participated in the Venture Kick, Venture Leaders Life Sciences and Venture Leaders China programs. Not to mentioned, the startup made it to the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award in 2018 too.

"The Venture Leaders China Expedition really gave us the chance to assess the business opportunities in China in our industry. We had the chance to talk to high-profile investors, partners, customers and distributors. Additionally, we had a unique insight into the Chinese business culture. It was an unforgettable trip and one of the highlights of my entrepreneurial career so far." Simon Bachmann, CEO of IDUN Technologies.
