Venture Leaders Cleantech forge global bonds and growth opportunities at the Munich roadshow

03.11.2023 09:00, Rita Longobardi

From October 23 to 27, Munich played host to a dynamic group of ten innovative Cleantech startups as part of the Venture Leaders program. This international business development and investor roadshow provided the entrepreneurs with an opportunity to engage with industry experts, connect with potential investors, and advance their businesses onto the global stage.

Venturelab has been organizing international roadshows for the Swiss National Startup Team for 18 years. These roadshows provide a platform for determined entrepreneurs and their promising startups, offering them the opportunity to connect with top experts, investors, and potential customers in key technology hubs across the globe, such as Silicon Valley, Boston, China, Barcelona, Munich, and London.

Each day of the Venture Leaders Cleantech roadshow brought new experiences and opportunities for the entrepreneurs.

A deep dive into the German market
The first leg of the journey kicked off with an insightful overview of the German market, led by Britta Thiele-Klapproth, Nadja Kolb, and Felicitas Gartmann. Their expertise laid the groundwork for the entrepreneurs and what would be a week full of potential.

One of the standout moments of the trip was the networking event hosted by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Munich, where over 120 guests gathered to discuss innovations and foster connections. This was just the beginning of the networking that would transpire during the week.

Innovative investor meetings
The second day was dedicated to intensive investor meetings and networking events. The entrepreneurs began at UVC Partners, who provided their space to the delegation. It was a day of in-depth discussions, brainstorming sessions, and worthwhile feedback.

For a change of scenery and an opportunity to refine their pitch techniques, the startups started a walking pitch session with BonVenture. This special setup not only improved their pitch skills but also provided an excellent workout for both their bodies and business strategies.

The day ended with a delightful reception at LUPP + PARTNER, bringing local peers together for an evening of networking and a problem-solving session with Julia Derndinger, adding even more value to the venture.

Meeting world-class investors
The second half of the week was particularly intense, focusing on meeting world-class investors. The Swiss National Startup Team had the honour of pitching to and connecting with influential figures in the investment world. From World Fund and Munich Venture Partners to Matterwave Ventures and Yttrium, the founders seized every opportunity to share their visions with potential backers.

OCCIDENT, with Patrizia Schützenhöfer, Simon Schild von Spannenberg, Michael Pauer, and Mirco Müller offered great support and organized a memorable networking evening complete with exceptional Bavarian cuisine. Helbling Technik contributed to the week with a workshop that addressed the technical challenges faced by these innovative startups.

A Bavarian finale
As the week drew to a close, what better way to wrap up this incredible journey than with a visit to a Bavarian brewery? The entrepreneurs enjoyed the local beers and cuisine, giving them a taste of Munich's unique culture and traditions.

As the Cleantech startups made their way home, the global community eagerly anticipates the forthcoming months, brimming with progress that these entrepreneurs are ready to achieve. Their passion, dedication, and innovative solutions are standing by to make a significant impact on the global Cleantech landscape. We can't wait to witness the positive changes they will bring to the world as they continue on their journey of international growth and innovation.
