Venture Leaders Mobile 2021: 10 new members of the Swiss National Startup Team will represent Switzerland at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

15.04.2021 10:30, Isabelle Mitchell

The 10 Venture Leaders Mobile 2021 are getting ready to take their startups to the global stage: The newest members of the Swiss National Startup Team will travel to Barcelona to attend the Mobile World Congress (June 28–July 1, 2021), which is planned as an in-person event with hybrid experiences. The roadshow will introduce Switzerland’s most innovative mobile startups to international investors and telecom industry leaders at the Mobile World congress’ startup fair 4YFN. Venture Leaders Mobile is organized by Venturelab and supported by Huawei, Swisscom, and VISCHER.

A jury of professional investors and mobile technology experts reviewed almost 100 applications to choose the Venture Leaders Mobile 2021: The innovative connectivity startups cover sectors ranging from digital health to insurtech and advance innovations in artificial intelligence, big data, or blockchain: “The innovative scope of the 10 Venture Leaders Mobile 2021 is impressive: The startups are experts in different fields, but they all demonstrate the quality of Swiss deeptech innovation. We are excited to help them lay the foundation for their global success,” said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner at Venturelab.

The roadshow in early summer aims to accelerate the startups’ expansion and helps them build global business networks. The Venture Leaders’ schedule for the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world’s largest and most important event for the mobile industry, includes visiting the main fair and meetings with top-notch investors, industry leaders, and potential clients at several of MWC’s key events, such as the 4YFN startup conference. The Venture Leaders Mobile will also attend exclusive networking and pitch events and participate in the second Venturelab sailing trophy.

Linda di Geronimo, Technical Country Cooperation Manager at Huawei Switzerland, is impressed: “It is fascinating how smart our mobile tech world is already today. With the advent of 5G, artificial intelligence, the cloud, and the Internet of Things (IoT), applications are possible that further substantially facilitate our everyday life and many industries and help health, industry, agriculture, construction or energy to increase efficiency and productivity. At Huawei, we see it as our responsibility and a great opportunity to support and promote the innovative Swiss startup scene.” Stefan Kuentz, Investment Partner Swisscom Ventures, adds: “Supporting Venture Leaders Mobile since the beginning, it’s been an amazing ride to bring the top-tier Swiss startups to the Mobile World Congress. We are excited to help Swiss entrepreneurs to build a strong network in the international telecom industry.”

Venturelab has been organizing international roadshows for the Swiss National Startup Teams for 16 years. The ambitious entrepreneurs and their promising startups are introduced to high-class investors and potential customers in leading technology hubs such as Silicon Valley, Boston, New York, China, Hong Kong, and Barcelona. In 2021, the Venture Leaders Mobile program will be held for the third consecutive year. “The Venture Leaders program provided our startup with a great opportunity to meet large players not only in mobile but in IoT and automotive as well. We managed to present Dotphoton to industry leaders and to find inspiration for our future technological development,” said alumna and Dotphoton CEO Eugenia Balysheva.
