The Swiss National Mobile Team is ready for their business development roadshow: The 10 Venture Leaders Mobile 2021 (safely) met in person for the first time to prepare for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of June. This year’s Venture Leaders Mobile program is supported by Huawei, Swisscom, and VISCHER.

Attending the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world’s largest and most important event for the mobile industry, will help the 10 Venture Leaders accelerate their startups’ expansion and build global business networks. “The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is a great event to attend and showcase innovation, especially with such an interdisciplinary Swiss delegation as the Venture Leaders Mobile,” said Joel Roos, founder and CEO of VAY.

The Swiss National Startup Team’s schedule for the congress includes visiting the main fair and meeting top-notch investors, industry leaders, and potential clients at several key events, such as the 4YFN startup conference. The Venture Leaders Mobile will also attend exclusive networking and pitch events and participate in the second Venturelab Sailing Trophy.

“We are excited to meet in person and be able to travel. The Mobile World Congress is such a critical event for mobile startups—especially in a time where connectivity and digitalization are critical. Thanks to a top-notch health and safety protocol, we can expect a high-quality event that will boost the international growth of the Venture Leaders Mobile,” said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner at Venturelab.

During the one-day workshop, the 10 Venture Leaders Mobile focused on getting to know each other and preparing for the roadshow in four weeks. Lawyers Christian Wyss and Christoph Niederer from Venture Leader Mobile sponsor VISCHER shared their expertise and advice to ensure the startups’ international expansions are set up for success.

VISCHER has been supporting the Venture Leaders Mobile program since its initiation and also hosts the Swiss National Startup Team at the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona and the sailing trophy. Rolf Auf der Maur, a partner at VISCHER, gave the 10 entrepreneurs a taste of what they can expect on their roadshow: “Barcelona is ready for the Venture Leaders! Everyone is determined to hold the congress safely and make it a very interesting event with the opportunity for you to meet potential business partners and investors on-site. Additionally, we will hold another edition of the Venturelab Trophy and many more social activities for the Venture Leaders experience.”

Stefan Kuentz, Investment Partner Swisscom Ventures, added: “Supporting Venture Leaders Mobile since the beginning, it’s been an amazing ride to bring the top-tier Swiss startups to the Mobile World Congress. We are excited to help Swiss entrepreneurs to build a strong network in the international telecom industry.”

Linda di Geronimo, Technical Country Cooperation Manager at Huawei Switzerland, added: “It is fascinating how smart our mobile tech world is already today. With the advent of 5G, artificial intelligence, the cloud, and the Internet of Things (IoT), applications are possible that further substantially facilitate our everyday life and many industries and help health, industry, agriculture, construction, or energy to increase efficiency and productivity. At Huawei, we see it as our responsibility and a great opportunity to support and promote the innovative Swiss startup scene.”
