From Switzerland to the United States: 10 technology startups will represent Swiss innovation in Silicon Valley

15.02.2022 09:15, Isabelle Mitchell

An expert jury chose the Venture Leaders Technology 2022: 10 startups that are ready to grow internationally will expand their networks and expertise during the Swiss National Startup Team roadshow to Silicon Valley in April. The Venture Leaders Technology 2022 program is organized by Venturelab and supported by dpd Switzerland, EPF Lausanne, ETH Zurich, Kellerhals Carrard, Rothschild & Co, and the Canton of Vaud.

The Venture Leaders comprise top Swiss startups ready to take the first steps toward their international expansion. As members of the Swiss National Startup Team, they will get closer to their global goals with the support of the investor and business development roadshows that have been introducing Swiss startups to innovation hubs in the U.S., Asia, and Europe for 17 years.

A jury of professional investors and technology experts looked through a record-breaking 180 applications and chose 10 startups that will pitch their companies in Silicon Valley, one of the world’s most important technology hubs. For one week in April, the 10 startups will accelerate their expansion into the US market and strengthen their business network through meetings and workshops with investors and industry leaders. The Venture Leaders will illustrate the depth and breadth of Switzerland’s technology innovation: The startups cover a range of solutions—from computer chips to artificial intelligence to cloud computing—and a variety of sectors such as agriculture, music, and airport operations.

“The Venture Leaders Technology roadshow brings the most promising startups to one of the most important regions for technology innovation,” said Stefan Steiner, co-managing director at Venturelab. “Meeting investors and industry leaders in Silicon Valley will provide the startups access to the US market. Getting hands-on business advice and feedback from experts will add priceless expertise to advance global growth.”

The Venture Leaders Technology 2022 join an impressive group of alumni, including startups such as Lemoptix and Composyt Light Labs (acquired by Intel), Faceshift (acquired by Apple), HouseTrip (acquired by TripAdvisor), Kooaba (acquired by Qualcomm), Dacuda (acquired by Magic Leap), and the unicorns GetYourGuide and Scandit.

“The Venture Leaders roadshow offers a unique opportunity to get ‘a foot in the door’ of the Silicon Valley ecosystem,” said Alexander Spahn, co-founder of Veertly and Venture Leader Technology 2021. “The blend of valuable topic sessions, opportunities to pitch Veertly to top-tier US investors, and the exchange with other successful Swiss entrepreneurs is simply perfect. This fantastic experience inspired me even more to think big in the long term, and it gave me a very clear picture of the required steps to enter the US market and how to attract American VC firms for Veertly.”

The Venture Leaders Technology 2022 program is organized by Venturelab and supported by dpd Switzerland, EPF Lausanne, ETH Zurich, Kellerhals Carrard, Rothschild & Co, and the Canton of Vaud.
