Macco Robotics: the Desafía Program startup developing robots for industrial automation

Meet Victor Martin, CEO of Macco Robotics. The startup brings the FoodTech concept, humanoid robotics, and artificial intelligence to hospitality so that the HORECA channel can optimize its resources while increasing the quality of its services. In December, Victor and the other eight Desafía Team members will participate in a two-week immersive business program across Zurich, Bern, St Gallen, and Lausanne to establish sustainable growth pathways in Switzerland's innovative ecosystem.

Victor Martinis is an Industrial engineer with longer experience in the robotics sector. Working with industrial robots a long time back, he detected that the Horeca sector was not digitalized, so he decided to extrapolate his knowledge in robotics to the Horeca developing the first humanoid robot to prepare cocktails and drinks in 2014, It robot called Macco was presented in the Event FITUR 2014, Madrid. From this time, the Macco team worked focused on improving the robot till now. The new version is called Kime and is already on the market.

Can you tell us who your product or solution helps, and how?
1,5 million unfilled jobs in the USA, and 1.2 million unfilled jobs in Europe. It's a big problem for the sector to find professionals to work in. This is what Kime solved. Kime, the humanoid, works inside the bar like a human, preparing and serving drinks and food. 

What market are you addressing and what is the potential of your startup in that market?
We are focused on the USA and European markets, expanding our business to the East Coast in the USA right now and Europe. We are working in Portugal, Spain,  Holland and France, working in the next market; Switzerland and the UK.

What are your team’s key achievements to date?
We are focused on the market. We have our product ready then our plan for the next 2 years is to take the new market to be the first humanoid market (in sales) in the market.

What do you expect from Desafìa, and how will it help you achieve your vision?
We need to understand how the Switzerland market is. To understand the opportunity speaking with potential clients and investors.

Switzerland is a big market with a pioneer and innovative mentality. We think it could be a great place to operate from there to cover the central European market.
